FEARLESS

The Undaunted Courage and Ultimate Sacrifice of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown

Expecting another detailed account of the military missions of the Navy Seal teams, I sat down to read Fearless.  Halfway through the 273 pages, I still had not encountered the death defying skills and heroics generally associated in this genre of book.  Quite frankly, I was bored.  But don't stop reading this review on that note!  The first half of this book describes and develops the man, whose career is that of a U.S. Navy Seal.  As I neared the end of the book, it all fit together so neatly and that satisfying feeling of having read a meaningful book overcame me.  The first half of the book really does a great job of developing the foundation (also the chapter 1 title) of Adam Brown, the process of growing and developing the worldview with the tenacity needed to not only achieve membership in the Navy Seals, but to attain a level of recognition as one of the highest achieving seals in history.  As the second half of the book develops, there are high action, up tempo descriptions, with the crescendo being a riveting account (spoiler alert) of the battle action, in which Adam Brown was killed.  For the remainder of the book, all the foundation information provided in the first half of the book, sealed just how meaningful his entire life had been.  An excellent book, but one which must be read in it's entirety, to be satisfying.  I would recommend it for anyone, however if you enjoy reading about the harmony and hope of mankind, then this book may be especially appealing to you.  4.5 of 5.0 stars.
