THE SUM OF NUMBERS
            Authored by Carole J. Greene

The Sum of NumbersWhat a fun book, that is if you enjoy thinking, enjoy math, and the thrill of solving a problem.  This book provides eighty word problems, in which you much utilize some basic algebraic functions to solve.  Upon getting this book, I immediately delved right in, and easily "conquered" the first few problems.  Feeling pretty confident and even smug, I started working some of the more challenging problems, and quickly realized that there are some very challenging, thought provoking problems here. I worked through them and must say that they take many twists and turns, requiring creative problem solving skills.  I found the book very interesting and challenged my level of math skills.  Successfully solving these problems resulted in satisfaction and increased my ability to think, I am sure of it!  As is stated in the book itself, some knowledge of algebra and equations is needed, so if you possess those skills, I would highly recommend this book and all of the challenges it holds.  Answer's are provided in the back of the book  It will not disappoint, as you will be busy with it for hours!  I teach a Financial Principles course and plan to incorporate this type of word problems into the class.

JOHN LOCKE Philosopher of American Liberty
Why Our Founders Fought for "Life, Liberty, an Property"

John Locke: Philosopher of American LibertyWOW!  I must have been asleep in all of the American History and Philosophy courses during my lifetime, because I missed the impact of John Locke upon the formation of our country's basic philosophy and upon other political/governmental development throughout the world.  This book presents Lockes argument for a biblical based foundation on which Liberty, freedom, and property ownership are given rights to human beings.  It is a very easy and understandable read, but to contemplate and fully glean the encompassing relationship between Locke, the scriptures, and political/governmental systems, it takes a bit of time. I recommend this book to all high school level and above.  The author, Mary-Elaine Swanson, specifically wrote about John Locke to counteract the oft misstated ideas of his philosophy being based upon a godless rationalism and secularism.  Facts are stated clearly and pointedly, based on verifiable evidence, which support Locke's positions.  He was a believing and practicing Christian and formed his philosophy of government based on his Christian worldview.  This is an excellent read, extremely informative, and for this sleeper during class, extremely enlightening.  Since my completion of this book, hardly a day has passed in which I haven't thought about something in it!  Purchase it at www..BookCrash.com.  Rated: 5 of 5 stars.
