                                                                                                                        BOUNDARIES FOR LEADERS

I found Boundaries for Leaders so intriguing, that I needed to read it twice before this review was completed.  It's very easy to read and flows in a steady understandable manner.  It introduces the concept of realizing the power to influence others, when the appropriate culture/climate is established by declaring boundaries.  The boundaries being based on what's created and what's allowed.  While there is nothing earth shakingly new about leadership principles in this book, the applicability and straight forward presentation of the information makes it an enjoyable read and it projects a vision for the reader that these ideas really are doable in the live a day world.  I have read hundreds of  management/leadership books, but I actually found myself excited about this one.  I discussed the ideas presented in the book with others and developed a plan of action, implementing many of the techniques into both me professional and personal lives.  The book provides methodologies of developing boundaries, which ultimately are reflected by connecting, creating, and growing people, oneself included.
An excellent, practical read for anyone interested in leading others, as well as developing yourself in the process.
FEARLESS

The Undaunted Courage and Ultimate Sacrifice of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown

Expecting another detailed account of the military missions of the Navy Seal teams, I sat down to read Fearless.  Halfway through the 273 pages, I still had not encountered the death defying skills and heroics generally associated in this genre of book.  Quite frankly, I was bored.  But don't stop reading this review on that note!  The first half of this book describes and develops the man, whose career is that of a U.S. Navy Seal.  As I neared the end of the book, it all fit together so neatly and that satisfying feeling of having read a meaningful book overcame me.  The first half of the book really does a great job of developing the foundation (also the chapter 1 title) of Adam Brown, the process of growing and developing the worldview with the tenacity needed to not only achieve membership in the Navy Seals, but to attain a level of recognition as one of the highest achieving seals in history.  As the second half of the book develops, there are high action, up tempo descriptions, with the crescendo being a riveting account (spoiler alert) of the battle action, in which Adam Brown was killed.  For the remainder of the book, all the foundation information provided in the first half of the book, sealed just how meaningful his entire life had been.  An excellent book, but one which must be read in it's entirety, to be satisfying.  I would recommend it for anyone, however if you enjoy reading about the harmony and hope of mankind, then this book may be especially appealing to you.  4.5 of 5.0 stars.

Yours Is The Day Lord
_______________________________________________________________
   Yours Is The Night

By Jeanie & David Guthrie

The book consists of Christian prayers, which have contributed to the greatness of the living Christian tradition of The Church. Just a simple examination of the bibliography provides insight into the sources of the prayers and provide great resources for further study, if desired. The book has a year's supply of a morning and evening prayer, written in the english of their time, from Old Testament to 2012. As you read and medidate through a few weeks of this collection, it is very easy to appreciate the universality of a loving and just God, Creator and Sustainer, Savior, and Judge. This book provides not only a model for praying, but enables a deeper, more intimate level of being, as it brings us into that place of holiness and communion with the unchanging and faithful God of the Bible. The prayers may be read respectfully and new revelations are possible. This book would be useful as a teaching tool, for personal devotions, or to connect the Bride with the Groom. The prayers typically short in length, easy to read. I would reccommend it.

I am That I am

I AM THAT I AM by Judy Azar LeBlanc

This book is a well documented, theologically conservative account of the eight covenants of the Holy Bible. 20% of the book is dedicated to the first seven covenants and the remaining 80% of the text is dedicated to the last covenant, the covenant of grace as revealed through Jesus Christ.  While there are multitudes of pages  written about Christ in the annuals of literacy, much less is written and explained about the previous seven covenants of the Bible.  LeBlanc has presented these seven covenants in an understandable manner, allowing for a fuller comprehension and appreciation of God's covenant of grace, the last of the eight.  I found my relationship deepening with Jesus, as I meditated and contemplated the connectedness, progression, and revelation of the character of the creator God  of Scripture.  On several pages of the book, LeBlanc uses the phrase, "it all fits together" and I believe that is the strength of the text.  She does a masterful job of providing all the pieces regarding covenantal theology and then providing how God has utilized them to fulfill His will in creation.  Much of the teaching occurring in churches throughout America is focused on individual scriptures and dare I say taken out of context when exegeted for the flock.  While this is useful, when those individual pieces of scripture are formed together into the mosaic, which the Bible is, the whole magnificent picture develops into a more clear and beautiful masterpiece.  This book has helped to accomplish that for me.  It presents the covenants as pieces of the mosaic, resulting in the beauty of God's plan, the final covenant of grace, with Jesus Christ entering time and space.  This book is useful for teaching the Word of God, but it is also useful for a personal deepening of the understanding, love, and obedience to Jesus.  Interspersed throughout the book are verses, predominantly from the New American Standard Bible and commentary provided by numerous respected theologians and pastors of both current and past eras.  I found this book challenging and informative.   Purchase it at www..BookCrash.com, rated 4.5 of 5 stars, I recommend it highly.
